Grrrmar Warm-up: Second Person
Definition: Writing from the second person point of view can weaken a writer’s effectiveness. Using second person can make the work sound as if the writer is giving directions or offering advice to his or her readers, rather than informing or persuading them (Writing Commons). Weak: You need to realize the importance of your actions so that you can be a role model to your sister! (2nd person) Stronger: It’s important for older siblings to realize that their behavior influences their younger sisters and brothers. Application: Fix the two below sentences: When you survey people, you want to make sure that you have plenty of options for them to choose. It’s important for you to listen to other people. If you only focus on yourself, you won’t grow. motherwhisperers.com depositphotos.com
