1 SPARK YOUR CONFIDENCE

3 Learn. Being a teen can be the most trying time in a person’s life. Striving for more or even a little bit of a very rare quality to possess - confidence. ‘a feeling of self-assurance arising from an appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities.’ It is easier said than done to assume it is possible you can learn to gain a simple quality just by self-assurance and appreciation. But sometimes we need more. So we (Leading Light) carried out a mini survey on friends, family and people on the street (the ones that stopped) between the ages of 30 teenagers responded to our survey: Q1. What is confidence? Q2. Do you feel most confident online or in real life? Q3. Does your confidence rely on other people’s opinions? - 70% of the people we asked were still trying to figure out what confidence was. The rest believed they possessed it without question. - 85% all agreed that various filters (i.e. snapchat or Instagram) made them more beautiful. 60% agreed that their confidence comes from other people – the vast majority being girls seeking validation from boys. So we came up with a solution - as we always do.

4 Grow. As a company we have learnt to give each other the strength to speak out. After finding our confidence, we have spent the last year refining our voices, now we want to help teens to find their thoughts and feelings before they enter the next level of education. We are offering workshops for year olds (GCSE) Exploring both individual and group improvisation exercises using personal insecurities which will not be shared without the pupils’ permission. One of our main focuses is to identify the pupils’ social friendship circles and to split them apart. This will help them to become more vulnerable and stand as individuals in front of us. We are going to create a spark within year old students and hope that after they leave us the spark will grow into a flame. This will be focused mainly on PGCE non-curriculum days and during citizenship lessons

5 Conquer. We will then harbour what they have learnt during the tasks and help them to devise (in groups) a 10 minute piece on self image, and conquering low self esteem. Understanding first of all of that self image is a delicate subject no matter what age. And this will be handled carefully. From this exercise, we would like for every teen that we work with to leave a different person to who they were before. Not that we’re expecting them to conjure up a dramatic boost of confidence – but we’d like for these small pieces to at least teach them how, and give them the means to start working on it! This will be focused mainly on PGCE non-curriculum days and during citizenship lessons
