In two paragraphs (6 sentences each) choose one of the options below to respond to: Option 1-Describe a song that reminds you of Pip or of what Pip is experiencing. What is the tone/mood of the song? Write a few lines of the lyrics. Option 2: Write a few lines of a theme song you would create for the first stage of Pip’s expectations shown in chapters Why does this song fit the character so well?

Read chapter 23 with 8 inference notes-25 minutes While reading students will have to use the example from the modeled DJE and identify 5 words and context clues that help the reader find its meaning from the text with three inferences-30 minutes Discussion Questions from chapters 23 CHAPTER 22 Review Questions Describe Herbert and Pip’s interactions. How do they relate? What do their interactions reveal about each of them? Why does Herbert call Pip by another name? What is Herbert’s profession? What does he aspire to do? DO NOW Shakespeare Terms Quiz GUIDED PRACTICE Teacher will review key terms of sonnets and go over station expectations and work completed last week INDEPENDENT PRACTICE Sonnet Exploration in Detail- Students will read a variety of Shakespearean Sonnets and complete station work for each sonnet. CLOSURE H.W. Create a sonnet about the next part of the year’s theme: Growth in Relationships

Your folders have all of the steps and norms for stations stapled on them. Please take a moment to review and complete each step. This is the last day for stations and you can not come after to make up the work or time. Please begin once the music starts each station will run 20 minutes.

23 8th Grade -DO NOW Take out your homework and place it with your homework tracker and clear your desk of all things you have a reading quiz.

24 Agenda- November 4th -5th WE will be able to make inferences about content in chapter 24 and use context clues to break down unknown terms in the text. GUIDED PRACTICE- Teacher will explain Rotation Station Norms. Students will rotate with their assigned tables and complete inferences activity in the allotted time. Teacher will have instructions worksheet on each folder with jobs so students will know what to do immediately when they arrive at their station. INDEPENDENT PRACTICE- Read the passage from chapter 24 and complete the context clue or inference activity at the station. Make sure you stay with your group during rotations.

25 Station Activity Norms
1. Stay at your station- You will rotate around the room with your group when the music turns off. 2. Complete the worksheet within the time allowed.- When music begins you start working. 3. Do not move until time is up! 4. Work with each person in your group! 5. Put your name on your paper and turn it in at the end of class.

26 Station Directions 1. Complete the worksheet in your folder by defining the term using the context clues or summarizing the inference. All responses must have a claim and explain the content in the sentence then elaborate on why you feel this is the correct response. 2. Find the definition for each of the terms and place the definition on the back of the worksheet. 3. Create five context clues or three inferences using chapter 24 from the novel Great Expectations. Write these on a separate sheet of paper.

27 Station Jobs 1. Definition Leader –Look up terms and create the definition list. You may use your cell phone. 2. Context Clue or Inference Solver- Your job is to complete the inference or context clue worksheet at your station- two people can complete this job. 3. Creator- You are making the context clues or inferences using chapter 24. Use your group for help. 4. Time Keeper- You will only have 20 minutes per station keep your team on task and collect the work.
