2 Practice! Since we have missed a few days of class, we need to make sure we are staying on top of our music! I hope that you have all been practicing all of your music in your free time. Particularly for this assignment, your focus is to practice Irish Tune from County Derry. Below are your assigned parts: Brass:Beginning- 36 Woodwinds: We encourage you to practice with a tuner to make sure your long notes are in tune! I made up the measure numbers for the purpose of this assignment. In a real situation, I would have the score and use the real rehearsal numbers.

3 Listening Along with practicing your specific parts in Irish Tune from County Derry, we want you to listen to a recording of the piece and think critically about where your part ties in to the piece as a whole. To begin, listen to measures Make sure to follow along in your music! Below you will find a link to a recording. Measure 55 begins around 2:35 on the video, but it might be helpful to listen to the entire piece!

4 Assignment After you have listened to measures 55-75, complete the assignment below. You may need to go back and listen again! This assignment can either be written or typed. It is due at the beginning of our next class period! Is your part the melody or harmony? Choose another instrument/part that is different than yours (for example: if you play the melody, listen to a part that plays the harmony) Explain how these two parts fit together. You may choose to talk about timbre, dynamics, etc. Describe how you plan on performing this section now that you are aware of at least one other part in the ensemble.

5 Standards/ Objectives
Grades 9-12 Standards: Recognize and describe the elements of music. (HSI 3CE) Apply assessment practices to demonstrate the learning and progress made in their development of music skill and music literacy. (HSI 1RE) Describe the elements of music and their functions. (HSII 4CE) Objectives: Students will practice their assigned parts of Irish Tune from County Derry with a tuner for at least 90% accuracy. Students will listen to a recording of Irish Tune from County Derry and evaluate their part compared to another by completing the provided assignment questions.
