13 Benefits to school A long-term project to improve engagement, where students are going to see an end result Highlight to students multiple aspects of a business, how it operates and the different roles involved Positive response from parents, supporting the students in seeing more of Teesside and working off site Raising aspirations for students and linking the world of work to the curriculum Not just another generic task, but something that has built excitement within the students due to how we can map out the full project

17 Benchmark 5: Encounters with employers and employees
Event: Y11 Secret Friend: January 2018 Business Advisor Ann Stonehouse arranged for employers to come into school. Used the Tees Valley ‘Shout Out’ form for more employers Employees went into classrooms and observed pupils. Feedback given to pupils. Impact for 2019 Secret Employer to be repeated with Y10 and Y8. Developed students confidence with employers. Made students aware of their impressions on employers.

18 Benchmark 6: Experiences of workplaces
Event: Workplace Visit 2018 During work experience week Students who had not secured a placement offered a workplace trip. This was organised by Trinity Business Advisor - Julie Harrison AV Dawson Wilton Engineering Nature’s Treasures Activity Centre Impact: All students in Y10 given the chance of a meaningful experience of a workplace by the end of Y11.

Parliament in Trinity... We heard campaigns from a variety of sources: Tony Maxwell -funding for education Jonathan Elmer -funding environmental projects Julie Harrison - businesses Charlie Rooney- local authority Ann Stonehouse- small businesses and voluntary sector support Dr Davies- Cleveland heart fund and other health projects

21 Outcomes of the day The winning campaign for all year 9 students was the Cleveland heart foundation. It showed the importance of using the democratic right to vote for the future. Meaningful encounters with the employers during the campaign process. It allowed us to be interested in social and entrepreneurial businesses.
