EM Timetable Data Errors from DMS
24 November 2008

Error 1 Descending trip times (Error has been repaired) Description
The CIF-data contains descending journey times but this error has been repaired by the import program. Trips with times like: Stop A a d1154 Stop B a d1154 are imported and repaired as: Stop A a d1153 Stop B a d1154 Impact Since errors are being repaired this normally has no impact on the journey planner system. But the CIF data is incorrect and should be corrected

Error 1 Route AMN 3 (DIVA 11003A) departing at 1425 contains descending trip times: 1454 at stop 3800C (DIVA 39932) followed by time 1435 at stop 3800C (DIVA 40334). Descending trip times at stop 3800C (DIVA 40334) have been set to 1454. Route AMN 3 (DIVA 11003A) trip departing at 1425 contains descending trip times between stop 3800C (DIVA 39932) and 3800C (DIVA 40334).
5
Descending Trip Times Type 1 : when t>0 and t<=1h
Use last valid time in place of descending one 0714, 0713, 0716 becomes 0714, 0714, 0716 Type 2 : when t>1h and t<=20h Discard the stop with the descending time 0714, 0613, 0716 becomes 0714, --, 0716 Type 3 : when t>20h Interpret as overnight journey Not an error : 2355, 0005, 0010 is fine

Error 3 Stop is not cross referenced Description
The NaPTAN-ID in the CIF-data is unknown. It could not be found in the NaPTAN database. Impact The stop will be missing in the imported timetable data. In a journey request it will not be possible to get on or off the journey at this stop. If too many stops of a journey are missing (e.g. only one stop remains) it is also possible that no valid journeys are created.
7
Error 3 May be that stop cannot be imported as in this example
Same stop appears many times This stop is a BCE – it is not a location at which buses can stop & is not imported
8
Error 4 Route does not contain any route option Description
A journey does not contain any valid route option when the CIF-data could not be used to create valid journey routes. Possible reasons are: There is actually no valid combination of QO (Bus Journey Origin), QI (Bus Journey Intermediate) or QT (Bus Journey Destination) records. The stop-IDs of the journey are invalid and not found in the NaPTAN data base or the cross reference. Impact The journey will not be imported and not be available on a journey request.
9
Error 4 These three routes cannot be imported
These are the only ones reported across whole region!
10
Error 40 Speed too high Description
The import calculates the theoretical speed between two stops on basis of the departure/arrival times and the geographical information of these stops. This error message is generated when the speed is higher than 120km/h or the distance is longer than 1200m. This error is reported in two cases: The calculated speed is above the threshold mentioned in the error-list. The time between two stops is zero and the distance between these stops is larger than the threshold mentioned in the error-list. This error can have several reasons: Stops are in the wrong order Stops have imprecise or wrong coordinates The trip contains stops that do not belong to the trip The trip contains a correct stop, but this stop has a wrong cross reference The trip contains wrong times A speed-too-high error may be influenced by the time at preceding and/or following stop(s).
11
Error 40 Impact The data is not amended or discarded. It may, however, generate "wormholes" (the ability to jump from one place to another in an inappropriately short time) causing possible distortion in journey planning, so it is important that these errors are investigated and any necessary correction is made. There is a similar speed check in the conversion of DIVA timetable data to IJP data that prevents VERY high speed trips from being converted. But the speed check of the conversion usually uses higher (variable) thresholds than the timetable import that generated this error message. So if this error is found AND the higher threshold is also surpassed, then the error will NOT be reported here, but as a type 43 error instead.
12
Error 40 Route SUC 3B (DIVA 1603B_) trip 2 departing at 0605 between stop N5 (DIVA 69491) and N (DIVA 33231) is 0 minutes, distance is larger than metre (01255 metre). Route MK 87 (DIVA 16087_) trip departing at 0815 Speed between stop A5 (DIVA 33106) and OS (DIVA 32957) is higher than 120 km/h (02463 metre, 0147 km/h).
13
Error 43 Speed much too high Description
The import calculates the theoretical speed between two stops on basis of the departure/arrival times and the geographical information of these stops. This error message is generated when the speed is higher than 150km/h or the distance is longer than 1500m. This error is reported in two cases: The calculated speed is above the threshold mentioned in the error-list. The time between two stops is zero and the distance between these stops is larger than the threshold mentioned in the error-list. This error can have several reasons: Stops are in the wrong order Stops have imprecise or wrong coordinates The trip contains stops that do not belong to the trip The trip contains a correct stop, but this stop has a wrong cross reference The trip contains wrong times A speed-much-too-high error may be influenced by the time at preceding and/or following stop(s).
14
Speed much too high Error 43 Impact
If an occurrence of "speed much too high" is above the threshold for the conversion of DIVA timetable data to IJP data, then the entire trip in which it occurs will not be available in the journey planner, nor on PDF/HTML timetables.
15
Error 43 Route ML 37 (DIVA ) trip departing at 1345 between stop 3300NS0088 (DIVA 83345) and 3300NS0527 (DIVA 84622) is 0 minutes, distance is larger than metre (01516 metre). Route ML 37 (DIVA ) trip departing at 1345 Speed between stop 3300NS0527 (DIVA 84622) and 3300NS0588 (DIVA 84601) is higher than 150 km/h (01278 metre, 0169 km/h).
