Labor Market Outcomes After taking race and years of work experience into consideration, median hourly wages for college graduates were about 50% more than median hourly wages for high school graduates in By 2008, wages for college graduates were almost twice as high as those for high school graduates. In 2007, the median increase in earnings associated with an 18th year of education was 19%. The 16th year — or fourth year of college — added 16%, and the first year added 11%.
