Research Feedback Task Analysis Sheet – More details on the spider diagram, more small images, ask some Q’s as well. Have a section for Promotional Materials under the Design or Commemorative Products headings – Stand; Calendars; Bag; Tag; leaflets; Flyer; CD; Websites etc. Packaging Issues – Include 6Rs Social Moral Cultural, Sustainability; Key Logos discussed – Link comments to your project. Customer Profile – More photos and Key Words. You need to comment on this in your summary. Analysis & Specification – More detailed comments in both sections. In your specification you could mention; Window; Strength of package; The range of promotional materials you are going to design and make. Summaries - Finally have a good look at you summaries – Be specific in linking what you have found out to your project

Environmental Summary - Example
‘E’ Grade – Having looked at the environmental issues I can now see what I need to do for my project. ‘C’ Grade – Having looked at the environmental issues I can now see that I need to take note of the 6Rs and sustainability issues in my project. I will also need to consider the social, moral and cultural issues. ‘A’ Grade – Now I have finished my research into environmental issues I have realised that when I am designing and making my package and promotional materials I will need to consider: The 6Rs especially recycle, reuse, and reduce as these are the ones I will have most control over. The social moral and cultural issues linked to my project particularly the cultural ones as my sporting event is based in Brazil and I would not want to offend and buyers. Finally my package and promotional materials should be constructed from a sustainable source.

Writing an Initial Design Brief
Initial Design Brief at bottom of Task Analysis sheet. ‘E’ Grade – I have looked at the Olympic theme and an going to design a box to hold stationery. ‘C’ Grade – I have analysed the task and have decided to design a box and gift bag to hold stationary based on an Olympic theme aimed at teenagers. ‘A’ Grade - I have analysed the task in detail and have decided to design a box and gift bag to hold and promote stationary such as Pens, Pencils, a Note Pad, Ruler and Rubber based on an Olympic theme. This will be aimed at a teenage and young adult market as they will be interested in the Olympics and most likely to use stationary at school, college and in the workplace.

By the end of the lesson you will / have / be able to:
From your Research produce a detailed Analysis of your Research. From your Analysis produce a detailed Specification for your project. Updated any STICKERS with improvements. Presented your Analysis & Specification & handed in for marking.

Analysis Having completed my research into …….. for the 2012 Olympics I would now like to... present my main findings ... summarise the main points ... list the important details from my research. From my Product Analysis I found out that: The push fit box design worked well and was very strong, protecting the product from getting damaged by using a corrugated interior. The images on the box were not very clear and did not use strong colours. Because of this the box was not eyecatching enough and would not appeal to the target age group. The window was in a good position which enabled the customer to see a good selections of the contents. Etc…
7
Analysis Continued From my Customer Profile and Environment sheet I found out that: 4-5 bullet points for each research sheet. From my Survey / Internet / History of Packaging etc. I found out that:
8
Specification Having completed my Analysis I would now like to present my initial specification for my ... My final product should meet the following points: My design should hold the following products safely... The graphic images on the box should link to my theme of … as well as the Olympics Games in some way. My final design should appeal to … users / customers My design should include a window so users can see … To promote my product the final solution should include a bag and other information.

Easter Holiday Tasks Complete all Research including: Task Analysis; Product Analysis; Materials, Glues & Environment Sheet; Image Board & Customer Profile. Complete your Analysis & Specification. Hand in first lesson back
10
Analysis Help Sheet Say what you have found out – be specific
Product Analysis, comment on: Lettering Style; Shape of box; Colours; Box info.; Strength; Lid Design. Materials, Glues and Environment Sheet, comment on: Which particular materials were useful for certain jobs Which glues were useful for certain jobs; Which glues were easy to apply. Discuss what you have found out about the environment and how you might use this in your project. Image Board & Customer Profile, comment on What you have found out about the Olympics and how this could be used in your project. Analysis & Spec. Feedback
Generally Disappointing Not enough detail in Analysis; key points missed (4-5 per sheet); sheets missed out ! Not enough detail in Spec. points ‘I will have a window’ Not I will… but My box / package / design should include a window so that… Must include Promotion and Protection point. My box should be eyecatching / attractive to my target audience. My box should be strong enough to protect the contents from getting damaged. DO NOT THROW AWAY YOUR DRAFT !!!
12
Analysis & Spec. Feedback
Not enough detail in Spec. points ‘I will have a window’ I will consider using a window so that… My box should consider environmental issues such as the 6Rs and sustainability. I should consider Social, Moral and Cultural issues when designing my box and promotional. My box should appeal to my target audience. My box should be strong enough to protect the contents from getting damaged. My box should promote the product as well as the event itself.
