PETS 2015 Leadership Stress that the president is a leader, and therefore requires leadership skills. The leader cannot get the job done by themselves, they have to involve the club members – hopefully all of the membership over the term. You need the energy, the various skills which members bring to the club (remember everyone has a contribution) and need to get commitment from members to get the job done. There are many jobs which need to get done over your term. Some are really simple and others complex. Question audience on what simple tasks they will have to do and what complex tasks they intend to do. The leader must know as much as possible about the task…what’s involved how many are needed, what are the skills and capacity of the volunteers for the task and how much time and money (budget) it will take. A skillful leader will delegate to the board or members to find out as much information as possible surrounding the task

task members club Objectives and vision PETS 2015
A leadership strategy task You will have competing objectives and vision. From local needs and demands through to projects and procedures dictated by Rotary International. You have to have to balance the tasks coming in to the needs of your members and the broader club/district/RI objectives and vision. The ideal area to lead is where the circles are interlocked – a balance between the task, members and club. Treat the circles as dynamic. Sometimes one area might take priority over others, altering the balance. This is ok. It is important that you are aware of how these areas work together and what can happen if one gets way out of balance to the detriment of the others. members club Objectives and vision

The effective leader will change with them. Example – due to a really heavy commitment of local work Individuals are not volunteering for a task (the task area is out of balance with the others).
