2 The Beginning… June 2, 2014 – Austin, Texas:
Commissioner of Education Michael Williams, Higher Education Commissioner Raymund Paredes and Texas Workforce Commission Chairman Andres Alcantar announced funding for the development of four new career and technical education early college high schools (CTE ECHS), providing new opportunities for high school students in Texas.

3 Grant After receiving 22 proposals from across the state, the three agencies have awarded the first round of funding to support initiatives at Dallas County Community College - Eastfield College; Houston Community College Coleman; South Texas College (McAllen); and Odessa College. The funding helps launch new opportunities for students to simultaneously earn a high school diploma and a credential that enables them to enter high-skill, high-demand workforce fields.

4 Goals Enable students graduating from high school to be immediately employable Provide opportunities to earn stackable credits that include Level II certificates Highest opportunity--Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in high-skill, high-demand workforce fields.
