Was kind toward the south regarding his compromises
Wanted to rebuild the cities and governments that were destroyed during the war
After Lincoln's murder, wanted to keep the county united

3. Plans
Lincoln gave a full pardon to all who rebelled except for the highest confederate officials
New state government formed when 10% of voters pledged loyalty to U.S
Southern states were to enact plans for the newly freed slaves
Johnson wanted restoration of the south 
Wanted the south to hold conventions for elections to reform civil governments within the United States
Wanted to pardon southern officers of the confederacy 

4. Result of Plans Lincoln died in 1865 and Johnson took over
He could not finish his plan for reconstruction
Johnson's pardons were granted for on high-ranking officials
States held to abolish slavery and repeal succession 

5. End of Presidency
Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth five days after the Civil War ended at a theatre in Washington
He was assassinated as an attempt to revive the confederate cause
Johnson was impeached and held to trial in 1868 for "high crimes and misdemeanors"
Was not kicked out of office but was held accountable and a lot of power was taken away
Finished presidency in 1869
