Fig 1 Flow chart of peri-procedural pharmacologic protocol. Aspirin (ASA) (100 mg once per day) had to be started at least 2 days before the procedure. Heparin (1 mg/kg) was administrated as a bolus intra-arterially immediately before the stent implantation procedure and in the operating room (2 mg/kg) before the cardiopulmonary bypass. Clopidogrel (300 mg as a loading dose, followed by 75 mg per day for 1 month) was started in the intensive care unit 6 hours after the end of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), provided that surgical bleeding from the thoracic drainages had definitely stopped, or when it was less than 50 mL/hr for 3 consecutive hours from the sixth hour. (CAS = carotid artery stenting.) The Annals of Thoracic Surgery , DOI: ( /j.athoracsur ) Copyright © 2006 The Society of Thoracic Surgeons Terms and Conditions
