4 Put the most amount of your effort into gap analysis
Each effort component was significantly correlated with the impact of the application roadmap The effort component that had the largest impact was developing a gap analysis related to your current applications To have the largest impact with your application roadmap you should put the most effort into developing a gap analysis, however, you should also consider putting effort into the other components as well because they are all important factors Gap analysis 35% Business strategies 26% End user feedback 12% Information from vendors 8% Inventory of applications 7% Feedback from business units 6% Feedback from IT managers 6% Relative importance* with the Overall Application Roadmap Impact Source: Info-Tech Research Group, n = 61 *Each bar represents a statistical estimate of the impact each activity has on the overall application roadmap impact relative to each other activity being included in the model. 5 The most important people to get involved with the application roadmap are the software developers and end-users To have greater success with your application roadmap success you should include two important contributors The most important contributor to application roadmap success are software developers. The second most important contributors to have involved with you application roadmap are the end-users The other contributors were not as important to application roadmap success, however, should still be included in the development where necessary The application roadmap success was calculated by taking the average of the following questions measured on a 6-point strongly disagree to strongly agree scale: We are very happy with the responsiveness of our applications We have very few patch compliance issues We are very happy with the level of quality directly related to our applications We are very happy with the cost and value we get from our applications We rarely hear end user complaints about current applications We have clearly aligned the cost of our applications with business needs.
