2 Fig 1 The new vascular access strategy based on the pre-transplantation venography is described. Category I is the patients with accessible veins in the upper body. Category II is the patients in whom venous access in the upper body is not feasible, but in whom lower extremity venous access is possible. Category III is the patients who require special techniques to establish vascular accesses. Categories II and III are considered requiring alternative vascular accesses.
