Personal Reading Every day of class, we will start with independent silent reading. Please pick a book that you think that you will like. If you don’t like it, feel free to switch books. This may or may not be a book that you do your book review on.

What is ELA 10? A year-long required class
Reading, writing, listening, speaking, and viewing We cover composition and American Literature from before 1600 to the present.

What is ELA 10? (cont.) Several formal and informal writings, including: personal narrative, timed writings, literary analysis, problem-solution, persuasion, cause-effect, and research papers. Preparation for AP Language and Composition (Over 1/3 of AP students come from ELA 10). Preparation for the ACT
