4 Personal Reading Every day of class, we will start with independent silent reading. Please pick a book that you think that you will like. If you don’t like it, feel free to switch books. This may or may not be a book that you do your book review on.

8 What is ELA 10? A year-long required class
Reading, writing, listening, speaking, and viewing We cover composition and American Literature from before 1600 to the present.

9 What is ELA 10? (cont.) Several formal and informal writings, including: personal narrative, timed writings, literary analysis, problem-solution, persuasion, cause-effect, and research papers. Preparation for AP Language and Composition (Over 1/3 of AP students come from ELA 10). Preparation for the ACT
