The estimated paper consumption in Sweden today is at the same level as the early 1990’s. The share of imported paper has increased during this period. Today the share of imported paper is around 45 per cent of the consumption, compared to 16 per cent in 1990.

The apparent paper consumption in Sweden was 1.7 million tonnes. 56 percent of consumption is packaging materials, while 28 percent is consumption of graphic papers.
