Unit 26 Service Provision

2 Lesson Objectives To identify and explain the principles of care
To recognise the types of service provision for people with additional needs and the types of services provided by these services Run through legal framework from the previous session Collate information Relate legal framework to the assignment task

3 P4 assignment task You should produce a written profile of a carer for a person with additional needs. Within this profile you should include information that: Explains positive working practice that the carer should provide Informs about the level and type of service delivery from the carer that should be expected by a service user. Describes the types of support, aids and adaptations and principles of care that the carer should provide.  When writing this profile you should approach the information from the perspective of the service user and what they should expect from a carer employed to support them with their additional needs.

4 M2 assignment task To achieve the M2 grade you should extend the information provided in your carer profile for P4 to discuss positive working practice with individuals with additional learning needs.

5 D1 Assignment task To achieve the D1 grade you should evaluate the information provided in P4 and M1 within your carer profile and evaluate working practices and their potential for breaking down barriers and improving the wellbeing and life chances of individuals with additional needs. Whole group brain storm to white board catagories of services Then types of services Students to take notes – give out slide 7 as a handout

Ask the group what are the principles of care What is the care value base Show points to slide then ask them to in small groups explain them giving examples Split group into 5 groups then ask each group to come up with an explanation of the topic with examples. Revision!!

7 Types of services Statutory Private Third Sector
Ask the group what types of service provision there is out there in health and social care. Explain these Statutory Agencies (public services) are created by Acts of Parliament and their functions are set down in law. These include local authorities that are democratically elected and answerable to the voters and central government. Their main role is to manage the social well-being, economic development and health of the people that they service. Third service are formally structured, independent not-for-profit organisations managed by voluntary committees or boards of trustees. They often have paid employees and volunteers. They undertake activities, provide services, offer support and campaign for change within the local community. Third sector – Private services – profit making run by individuals or organisations. Often corporate.
