Matter is anything that has mass and volume
Volume is the amount of space that something takes up
Mass is how much of something there is

Matter is made up of extremely tiny particles called atoms and molecules with spaces in between them

We use the word “property” to describe aspects of what a material is like (ex: strong, hard, runny, flexible, compressible)
These properties help us decide on whether matter is solid, liquid or gas

Some materials have only some of the properties and others have the properties of more than one state of matter
