Work Work is done when a force causes an object to move over a distance. The amount of work depends on the amount of force and the distance the object is moved.

Calculating Work Work = Force x Distance W = F · D
If the object does not move a distance, than no work has been done. Units are N· m or Joules

Calculating Work A forklift lifts a 1000N weight 4 meters into the air. How much work was done by the forklift? A person lifts a box weighing 100N 2 meters onto a shelf. How much work was done by the person?

Power Power is how much work was done in a certain amount of time.
The faster the work is done, the more power was used. Power = Work time Units are Watts
