3 Statutory Role & Mission
The Colorado Springs campus of the University of Colorado shall be a comprehensive baccalaureate and specialized graduate research university with selective admission standards. The Colorado Springs campus shall offer liberal arts and sciences, business, engineering, health sciences, and teacher preparation undergraduate degree programs, and a selected number of master’s and doctoral degree programs.

$268K awarded over 3 years to support partnerships with: Otero Junior College and Fountain Fort Carson, D8 Implements hands-on STEM camps developed through the PIPES program at UCCS Partners with campus faculty, staff, and K12 teachers to run workshops and camps Evaluates the longitudinal impact of hands on STEM activity on long term student retention Enables sharing of PIPES STEM curricula to support ongoing STEM outreach efforts

Community & Culture Heller Center for the Arts and Humanities Main House Community Retreat Location Presidential Teaching Scholars Center for the American West (Boulder- Pat Limerick) Programming 3 classes meeting regularly at the Heller Center this semester Organic garden Summer jazz concerts Student art club Arts and crafts classes for students and the community Interns Past interns have jobs at the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame, the Buena Vista Heritage Society, and the Ft. Carson Museum

Breaking ground in 2012 / open August 2013 Two New Towers (west of Columbine), 55,000 gross square feet Approximately 197 beds Project Budget: $16.0 million (to be paid through rents of students) Commitment to academic and social success Support student recruitment and retention Sustainable design-LEED Gold 18 additional beds available in existing spaces through conversion by August 2012

12 Community & Culture UCCS to host the 2012 FISU World University Softball Championships August 2-11, 2012 / 4 Diamonds Athletes on 8-10 women’s softball teams Sponsored by The Sports Corporation, El Pomar, USOC and UCCS FISU is the Olympic version of the elite college and university teams competing for world championships

13 Discovery & Innovation
UCCS Center of the Colorado Initiative in Molecular Biotechnology (CIMB) UCCS-CIMB has been established as an academic center at UCCS. Dr. Camley has been appointed as the Director. Dr. Pinchuk is negotiating with a company for funding his work on biosensors and has submitted a bioscience discovery evaluation grant. The UCCS-CIMB multidisciplinary seminar series began with a seminar on 07/25/11. Physics and Biology faculty are identifying possible areas of joint research. Drs. Leinwand and Perkins from Boulder will be visiting in the fall to tour the UCCS-CIMB labs.

Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) Approximately $2 million / project runs until 2014 Focus Secondary trauma and burnout in military behavioral health providers Project Includes 2 Phases Phase One Initial assessments of current secondary trauma and burnout levels across the Army – specific emphasis at Fort Carson Partnering with the Warrior Resilience Program in San Antonio, TX Phase Two Develop a cutting edge secondary trauma and burnout prevention program that will be implemented at Fort Carson Program will be scientifically evaluated
