a new social use of IT a grass roots neighbourhood internet environment creates value in daily life by starting from individual needs, ambitions and motivation enabling the young to integrate through: intergenerational collaboration between young and old online tools support new forms of collaboration and participation integration of deprived and isolated groups developing an ‘architecture of trust’ to design new interventions new cohesion between social groups creating advanced methods of stimulating community and social capital

European collaboration
‘connected neighbourhoods’ starts with four initial partners that will coordinate a larger consortium, with partners in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe all initial partners build on their extensive experience with the use of IT in local social environments initial consortium partners: Brekend Vaatwerk, Amsterdam, Netherlands The Hague University, The Hague, Netherlands Tavistock Institute, London, England Peabody Trust, London, England
