1 GOLF FITNESS

2 My presentation today will be about Golf Fitness for the average person. Specifically how to exercise before we go and pay a round of golf. All professional athletes warm up before playing their sport. In golf, they will go to the tour van and stretch for 20 minutes or they have their own routine they can do in their hotel or on the course before they start their game. Then they will go put for another 30 minutes, hit balls on the range with their swing coaches for another 30 minutes, then go put again for about 10 minutes. Then they are ready to go to the first tee. On the other hand, WE get to the range, hit a small bucket of balls, MAYBE, then put for a few minutes, again MAYBE, and go to the first tee. Or, get this, MOST of us get to the course about 15 minutes before our tee time, sign in, get a cart, and then go to the first tee. Then we tell our playing partners……………Let’s Go! Does this sound like you

3 another minutes with their swing coach, then go back to the putting range for another 10 minutes and then finally go to the first tee box. Now let’s look at what WE do. WE get to the course and maybe hit a small bucket of balls, and then go to the first tee box. We might swing a couple of wedges for about 15/20 seconds. Now we think we are ready to play. Another scenario this, we get to the course 15 minutes before our tee time, check in, get a cart, go to first tee box. We might make a few swings with a couple of clubs and then we are ready to tee off. Sound familiar! That’s pretty much how we do it isn’t it. Today, we will be looking at about 5 videos about how to warm up before our golf game. Pay special attention to

4 the exercises. And which ones you think might be good for you and your customers. After all, if we all want to improve our golf games, then we are going to have to improve our golf fitness routine before we play. Also, in these videos you will see one common denominator about what two parts of the body we need to focus on for better golf fitness. Specifically, “Core and Gluts”. I refer to these two parts of the body as the “King and Queen” for our golf fitness as do many of the instructors in the videos. It is essential if you play golf that you have a strong core and strong gluts in order to perform your best. Many of the exercises for our pre-game warm up will include these two areas of the body.

5 Lets look at some videos.
First one is Mike Pederson from Perform Better Golf. His website is . I think this video is one of the better warm up routines for golf. He has other videos on his website and you tube

6 Another really good video is from Ken Pierce who owns
Golf Gym. His website is Lots of good information at his website. Great golf specific exercise videos and information . Let’s take a look.

7 Just remember, I am showing you different pre golf routines so that you can choose 4/5 exercises which fit your athletic ability and something you will enjoy doing before you play golf. Another great video with a great instructor/ fitness trainer named Kathy Ekdalh from Very good info here, especially for your female customers.

8 Another routine and more exercises is from Dr
Another routine and more exercises is from Dr. Peter Mackay, a chiropractor from San Diego. He also has many exercises for your golf game.

9 Next, I want to show you a couple of videos the way I train
Next, I want to show you a couple of videos the way I train. This is using the TRX Suspension Ropes. I personally believe this is a wonderful all body workout program. And it is also great for golf.

10 As you can see there are many golf fitness exercises for you to choose from. I just showed you a few that you can choose. There are over 3,000 videos on You tube that I searched. Just going to the course, hitting 20 balls, and going to the tee just isn’t the right approach. Most of these exercises can be done at hour house before you go play golf, and then all you have to do is a short warm up at the course. Golf fitness also will make the quality of your life much better. And it will keep you from getting fatigued during a round, help you lower your scores. But most important, you will have more FUN playing Golf! Questions?
