TF on Goods Sent Abroad for Processing (I)
Goods, sent abroad for processing are measured as imports and exports of goods in External trade statistics and BoP With new ESA 2010 and BPM6 that take effect in 2014, goods, sent abroad for processing will be measured as a net service NA and BoP will no longer show the flow of goods but flows of processing services

Data is collected in External trade statistics as exports and imports of goods: cca 2 % of all imports and 3 % of all exports Data is broken down by "nature of transaction": Operations with a view to processing under contract Goods expected to return to the initial MS of dispatch (41) Goods expected not to return to the initial MS of dispatch (42) Operations following processing under contract Goods returning to the initial MS of dispatch (51) Goods not returning to the initial MS of dispatch (52)

In 2009, Slovenia was in a larger extent a country, importing goods for processing (inward processing) than a country exporting goods for processing: Imports of goods for processing (41) were 214 mio EUR and exports of goods after processing (51) 312 mio EUR; difference is 98 mio EUR Exports of goods for processing (41) were 101 mio EUR and imports of goods after processing (51) 136 mio EUR; difference is 35 mio EUR

Difficulties with consistency of data on goods, sent abroad for processing in External trade statistics and Balance of payments – to be eliminated with ESA 2010 and BPM6 In BoP: Question on net services of goods for processing in the survey on services (Bank of Slovenia) – to be reconsidered

Future steps in National Accounts: Analysis of monthly data on goods sent for processing, collected in External trade statistics Exploring the possibility to include a question on net processing services to SBS or other statistics

TF on Goods Sent Abroad for Processing (IX)
Slovenia is participating in Eurostat grant “Improvement of quality of National Accounts” where measurements of goods sent abroad for processing are being studied. The aim is to establish a new treatment of goods for processing in national accounts according to new international guidelines.
