Rhinovirus (RV) infection induces caspase-1 expression in bronchial epithelial cells in asthma.
Rhinovirus (RV) infection induces caspase-1 expression in bronchial epithelial cells in asthma. Human bronchial epithelial cells from asthmatic and healthy donors were infected with 1 multiplicity of infection RV16 and gene expression of caspase-1 was measured by real-time quantitative PCR 24 h post-infection. Data are presented as mean±sem fold change of unstimulated healthy control relative to UBC/GAPDH expression. Comparison of different groups was performed using the Kruskal–Wallis test and Wilcoxon post-testing. *: p<0.05 versus healthy subjects; **: p<0.01. Data were obtained from eight asthmatic and four healthy donors. Mandy Menzel et al. ERJ Open Res 2017;3: ©2017 by European Respiratory Society
