Set Word Option to Reopen a Document in Draft View 1. Click here. 3. Check this box 2. Click here. A document saved in Draft view will not reopen in Draft view unless the Word option is selected to do so.

Set Style Pane Options to Show Styles in Current Document 1. Click here. 2. Click here. 3. Using the down arrow, select "In current document." Microsoft Word allows options for the styles to display in the style list. If "Recommended" is selected in the style pane options, the displayed list will include the styles in the current document and some styles that Microsoft Word recommends for display (e.g., subtle, intense). Therefore, select "In current document" for the styles to display.

Check Usage of Nonstandard Styles Microsoft Word shows the number of instances a style is used and highlights the instances throughout the document. 1. Select a nonstandard style and click on the down arrow. 2. Select this command. The 3 instances are highlighted

Check Usage of Nonstandard Styles (cont.) Nonstandard style usage can be corrected by (1) highlighting the instances, (2) going to the 1 st instance, (3) correcting the style usage for that instance, (4) then, re-highlighting the instances and repeating the steps until all instances are corrected. Three instances of the "Body Text" style usage are shown, of which the 1 st instance is in par. 5. 1. Correct the style usage by replacing "Body Text" style in par. 5 with "Normal" style. 2. Highlight the instances again and notice 2 instances of the "Body Text" style usage remain. (Note: This step is performed when the next instance is not clearly visible from the previous instance. For this example, this step is shown for conceptual purposes. 3. Correct the style usage and repeat the process.

If a nonstandard style is not used, the selection command will show "Not Currently Used." 1. Perform the steps from the previous page. If a style is not used, the selection command will be grayed. 2. Select the deletion command. The style will be removed from the document. Check Usage of Nonstandard Styles (cont.)

Remove Table Positioning Specification documents must not include table positioning. Table positioning allows tables to be moved, placed side by side, aligned horizontally and vertically, and wrapped with text around them. Draft view: Print Layout view: The table appears below list item 7 (correct location.) The table appears in the middle of list item 8 (incorrect location). Example 1:

Remove Table Positioning (cont.) Example 2: Draft view: Print Layout view: The table appears in Par. 1 (correct location.) The table appears at the top edge of the page (incorrect location.)

Remove Table Positioning (cont.) 1. Right click on a table and click on table properties. 2. Select "None" for text wrapping. Notice the "Positioning…" button is grayed. Positioning is removed. To remove table positioning, change the table properties.
