1. Milk and Water Observations
-In the through section on p.12 in your INB
-WORK WITH YOUR SHOULDER PARTNER
MATERIALS: milk, water, pepper, detergent, pipette, petri dish, paper pencil
Write 2 hypotheses about what you think will happen in each test BEFORE you perform them:
HYP 1 milk- IF I drop colors and detergent in milk then it will_________________ b/c_________
HYP 2 water- IF I drop detergent in the pepper water then it will_________________ b/c_________
MILK TEST
Pour milk into your petri dish fill about ½ way
You will put ONE drop of each color anywhere you want in the milk
Put one drop of detergent into the middle of the milk using
the pipette
Record the table and describe what you observe on the table
Dispose of milk in the sink and rinse petri dish
WATER TEST
-Fill the petri dish with water
-Sprinkle A PINCH of pepper into the water
-Put one drop of detergent into the middle of the dish
-Record what happens
Answer the following questions or complete the statements:
1- What questions do these experiments bring up at least 1 for each?
2- Explain why you think this happened in EACH experiment. (2 explanations)
-3- Record 2 differences and 2 similarities between each of the 2 experiments
