2. General information
Elderly abuse is a world wide problem related to human rights, gender equality, domestic violence and aging populations
Victims belong to three marginalized groups – they are elderly, victims of violence and women
The need for more effective means of identifying victims
The availability of assistance and the role of health professionals in providing assistance
The main concerns:
Healthcare professionals - lack knowledge and experience on this subject
Invalid guidance at national level on how to deal with victims
There is no access to the relevant training programs

3. Purposes of the project
An intact topic in Estonia- Elderly Female Victims of Abuse and coping with it by the medical staff
The main purpose of Project WHOSEFVA is to increase the capacity of organizations dealing with the topic of domestic violence to represent the interests of older age victims of violence in the healthcare system and in health policy
The purpose of the training materials and the whole project is to help better identify older victims of violence and pay attention to how they can be best helped in this situation
Increase cooperation between organizations dealing with domestic violence and health organizations

5. Main activities and outputs
Compilation of Training materials
Based on a previously developed training program, the project will adapt it to the needs of older victims of violence

Trainings for a total of about 734 representatives of organizations dealing with victims of violence and various healthcare and social workers in hospitals, ambulances and other medical centers

6. Trainings aimed at preparing medical staff
For seriously extending the circle of informed medical professionals and other professionals in contact with victims and for carrying out the trainings in the future trainers in on-country countries will be trained

Interviews with elderly victims are conducted in order to better map their needs and to supplement the materials needed to help them according to their needs

7. Project results and communication activities
Project-related communication activities are carried out by partners in Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Greece, Northern Ireland and Austria. The EU-level communication activities are managed by the WAVE Central Organization (Women Against Violence Europe).
