Current indicators cannot differentiate between lack of adult care and lack of childcare;
Current indicators only meaningful for women; age breakdowns not possible
Current indicators could be replicated using filter variables only (preferred EUROSTAT solution)

6. Increase target group
- individuals working part time because of other family or personal reasons
- inactive individuals who indicate that they want to work, but are not searching for employment because of other family or personal reasons
- inactive individuals wanting to work but not available in the next two weeks due to care responsibilities for children or incapacitated adults, or other personal or family responsibilities
- individuals not in employment who left their last job due to care responsibilities for children or incapacitated adults, other personal or family responsibilities, and early retirement.

8. Decrease number of breakdowns
NOW: childcare, adult care or both as answer options, breakdown cannot be used;
Proposal: ask for main reason for not working (more), either lack of childcare OR lack of adult care
 possible use for indicators; meaningful breakdown

10. New core variables Agreed by LAMAS: Proposal after testing:
3 annual variables on self-employment
1 biennial variable on working time determination
Proposal after testing:
Variables MAINCLNT (determining economic dependency), WORKORG (determining organisational dependency), and SEREAS (determining reason for self-employment)
VARIWT (extent of working time self-determination of employees)

Proposal: include STAPRO=3 in the filter
