Effective January 31, 2008, CBP is no longer accepting oral declarations alone. No discernable impact to wait times. This summer CBP will begin installing RFID infrastructure at 39 high-volume land ports, which process 95% of crossings. Vicinity RFID technology will provide CBP officers traveler and law enforcement information in advance of arrival at primary booth. Reduced processing time More secure process
