The DSS promotes an inclusive educational environment, where independent learning and the development of skills that are transferable is encouraged.

Mature Students are defined as those over 23 or over on the 1st January of their year of entry to HE.
It has been national access policy since to target support for those mature students who have not previously benefitted from higher education and who enter college to complete a full time course.
