So here is a visual that can be used to support mental math understanding of 10 more and 10 less.

1 more, 1 less Visualize the number 46 on the hundreds board.
If I want 1 less (1 ones less), I will be subtracting the number of ones, so I will move left to 45. If I add 1 more (1 ones more), I will be increasing the number of ones, so I will move right to 47. 1 more, 1 less

10 more, 10 less Visualize the number 46 on the hundreds board.
If I want 10 less (1 ten less), I will be subtracting the number of tens, so I will move up to 36. If I add 10 more (1 ten more), I will be increasing the number of tens, so I will move down to 56. 10 more, 10 less
