Association between serum albumin concentration at the time of randomization and 90-day mortality in patients with severe sepsis or septic shock enrolled in the Albumin Italian Outcome Sepsis (ALBIOS) study.3 Data are expressed as percentages and were available for 1,609 patients (from the first to the last group: 443, 492, 448, and 226 patients). As shown, the higher the degree of hypoalbuminemia, the higher the probability of death.
