- A benevolent neighbor took in the stray dog. Benefactor – noun A person who gives friendly aid - Oprah Winfrey is a benefactor to countless children around the world.

Although police initially thought the substance was a deadly chemical, they soon discovered it was totally benign.

CORD “heart” Accord – noun
Sameness of opinion; agreement The leaders of the nation were in accord on the necessity of a new budget. Discord – noun Lack of agreement; disharmony Although they tried to hide their disagreement, the discord between the team and the umpire was obvious.

CORD “heart” Cordial – adjective Warm, friendly and polite
If Leon can’t be cordial to his ex-girlfriend, he shouldn’t go to the party.

ANIM “spirit” Animosity – noun
Anger or hostility Kylie Jenner’s tweets displayed animosity when talking about her ex Tyga. Equanimity – noun Evenness of mind or spirit; calm I experienced equanimity when I stepped on the beach in Maui and saw the sunset.

ANIM “Spirit” Magnanimous – adjective Generous in spirit
Santa Claus was quite magnanimous in the Kurowsky household towards little Ryan.

MAL “Bad” Dismal – adjective Malevolent - adjective
Causing great sadness or pessimism The rain, dark clouds, and cold temperatures made for a very dismal afternoon. Malevolent - adjective Wishing harm towards; hostile Erin says that putting a “kick me” sign on Reggie’s back was an innocent practical joke, but I think it was a malevolent gesture.

Mal “Bad” Malicious – adjective Intended to hurt or harm
Justin said Laurie was being malicious when she failed to give him the message that he had won the new corvette!
