1 Lucy Maud Montgomery By: Hailey

2 Birth Lucy was born on November 30, 1874 in the tiny village of Clifton, P.E.I. Her parents were Hugh John and Clara Woolner Montgomery.

3 Early life Lucy's mother dies when she's 21 months old and has to live with her grandparents. When Lucy was 7 she moved to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Where she taught herself to read, write and starts a journal. At fifteen she started entering writing contests. She liked writing poems the most. When she turns fifteen she moves back with her father. Lucy moves back to P.E.I. in1891.

4 College She went to Prince of Whales Colligate and Dalhousie University to become a teacher.

5 Teaching She would get up at 6 am to write and then go teach school.
She wanted to become a better writer. In 1895 she goes to university. In 1896, she has to start teaching  again due to a lack of money. Teaching

In 1898, her grandfather dies so she moves in with her grandmother. She takes care of her grandmother for 13 years. In 1900 her father dies. In 1905 Lucy meets Ewan Mcdonald, they become secretly engaged for 5 years. They can not get married because she has to look after her grandmother. In 1911 her grandmother dies  In 1911 Lucy and Ewan get married. She had 2 children Chester and Stuart

7 Anne Of green gables Anne of Green Gables is a 1908 book by Lucy M. Montgomery. It was written for all ages, but has been considered a classic children's novel since the mid-twentieth century. It is set in the late 19 century. The novel recounts the adventures of an 11 year old orphan named Anne Shirley. 

8 Why was she important? She writes about Canadian history the same way as Louisa May Alcott writes about American history. Both were writers fiction and were able to describe social conditions that they lived with in that age.
