Flame Test Lab Solutions and Safety
Hazards in today’s lab include: FLAME, metal salt solutions. Please be sure to observe all safety procedures for both of these hazards. Flame please be sure to have no loose hanging clothing (eg sleeves). Pull back all hair shoulder length or longer. Students are NOT to turn on the gas or light the Bunsen burners – instructor will assist If your flame goes out for any reason, inform instructor IMMEDIATELY. Methane gas is an explosion hazard! Metal Salt Solutions – refer to the MSDS Sheets on the side lab table below the safety glasses. Solutions are rated as follows: HEALTH 2 FIRE 0 REACTIVITY 0 SAFETY EQUIPMENT IMPORTANT FOR TODAY TO WEAR Safety goggles and aprons TO KNOW WHERE TO FIND fire blanket and extinguisher
