You will demonstrate prior test-taking knowledge including how to answer multiple choice questions, short answer responses, and the basics of essay writing by completing a pre- assessment based on your summer reading assignments

5. August 28, 2015 Tape your name plate to the side of your desk
Tape it so it faces the middle of the room (either the right side or left side of your desk

6. HOMEWORK: Due next class period
Bring in three items that symbolize your culture (they can be physical items or pictures of items)
Culture: the customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements of a particular nation, people, or other social group
Ex: food, dance, music, clothes, language, holidays
Bring in at least 2 pictures of friends and family
They can be electronic or physical (please be aware that they will be displayed!)
Complete the culture interview questionnaire

7. Pre-Assessment Essay Timed
Try to remember all the strategies your English I teacher taught you (analyzing the prompt, graphic organizers, etc.)
This is a PERSUASIVE essay
Do your best
I will be assessing you on your ideas, organization, spelling, and grammar

8. Color Coding
You will need yellow, green, pink, orange, and blue markers
First, underline your hook with the pink highlighter
Second, underline your thesis in orange
Next, underline your first reason/example in green
Then, underline your second reason/paragraph in green
After that, box your conclusion in blue
Lastly, go through your entire essay and highlight your transition words in yellow
