Standard: 8E1c: Comprehension and Analysis of Literary Text Students read a wide variety of grade-level appropriate fiction, such as classic and contemporary literature, historical fiction, fantasy, science fiction, mystery, adventure, folklore, mythology, poetry, short story, drama, and other genres. Component: Analysis of Grade-Level Appropriate Text 8E1c.2: Evaluate the structural elements of the plot (such as subplots, parallel episodes, and climax), the plot’s development, and the way in which conflicts are or are not addressed and resolved. 8E1c.3: Compare and contrast the motivations and reactions of literary characters from different historical eras who confront similar situations and conflicts or similar hypothetical situations
