GIFTED GAZETTE 1.7 Sept. 25th - Sept. 29th What we’re learning this week… Spelling, Vocabulary, & Test Schedule Reading: Greek Mythology This week we will… finish reading The Magic Treehouse: Ancient Greece and the Olympics Fact Tracker and write an original myth Skill: story elements (character, setting, plot, protagonist, antagonist Language/Writing: This week we will… distinguish between singular and plural nouns. learn spelling rules for plural nouns use a “mentor sentence” to apply grammar skills. Spelling: Complex consonant clusters (shr-, thr-, spr-, scr-, str-, spl-) Math: This week we will… use place value to compare and order numbers round numbers to the nearest ten master 4’s facts with “Fluency Friday” speed test on Thurs/Fri Project of the Week (P.O.W.): In-class research is due Friday. Research: Our Greek Wax Museum presentations are this Friday 9/29. Students should wear their uniforms and bring their costumes/accessories to change into at school. We are so proud of the passion and knowledge that came across in their speeches! We will continue to practice this week with making audience eye contact, speaking slowly for audience understanding, and voice projection. We will celebrate our success with Greek snacks in the afternoon. If you’d like to donate, please let the room parent contact know.
