Engagement Strategies
Jigsaw – Class topic. Divide class into teams. Each team learns subtopic. One person from each team moves to a new team. Each person in the group teaches what he/she knows. The Gallery Walk - Topics placed around the room. Students divide into as many groups as there are questions. Students move around the room and discuss the topic by writing their thoughts on sticky notes or a large paper beside each picture. Debates – When there are two sides. Students pick a side to defend. Just-in-time-teaching – Encourage students to prepare for work outside of class. Discussion when class starts.
