Positive employee experiences foster engagement and connect employees to Penn’s mission. Focusing on recognition in an intentional way can have positive effects on recruiting, diversity and inclusion, and developing staff.
The HR Quality of Worklife team engaged HR Partners and service recognition program coordinators from schools and centers, and reviewed the strengths and weaknesses of the current milestone gift program. The participant feedback in these focus groups emphasized:
Expanding gift selection
Increasing the quality of the gifts
Access to a web portal to easily track service anniversaries

7. FY 2019 Implementation 7
In FY2019, the first year of implementation, the eligibility process remains the same. School and center recognition coordinators will send the list of eligible staff and faculty, including the names of the recipients and coordinators contact information, including mailing address, and phone number to Soncerae Lewis.
School and center award presenters will be recognizing awardees with a congratulatory card with enclosed instructions to visit a web portal to select a gift. This is an opportunity to personalize the presentation for the recipients by sharing positive contributions and special accomplishments the staff and faculty have made.
HALO will provide the congratulatory cards to service recognition key contacts in schools and centers in November 2018.
