Today: I want you to identify the following from The Lovely Bones
Plot Don’t forget to identify the following: 3 act structure: act 1, act 1 climax, inciting incident, dramatic premise (What the story is about) dramatic situation (the circumstances surrounding the action), Act 2, Midpoint, obstacle, Plot point 1 & 2, Act 3, climax, denouement, Resolution Character Who are the main characters and what archetypes do you see? Theme or idea What is the theme of the book? What is the big idea? Speech (Dialogue) What speech is present? Example? Chorus (Music) How could this show on the big screen? Décor (Production Design) Examples of this? Spectacle (Special Effects) How could this be shown on the big screen? Need help with archetypes or plot? See and use the PowerPoint from week 2!

The Lovely Bones Script
It has 113 pages and 269 ‘scenes’. Each student will be responsible for reading and understanding at least 20 scenes. Most of them are less than a page long. As you read, you will write down differences that you see from the book to the script. You will meet with Mrs. Webster on Monday to go over the differences you found. You will also create a Story Board. (due Tuesday December 6th) After meeting with Mrs. Webster, you will create a diorama based on the scene we selected. You will also include a brief explanation, showing why the director may have changed the scene and how it either helps the movie or limits the movie. Dioramas will be due Wednesday December 14th You will show the class your diorama and explanation We will watch the movie Thursday December 15th & Friday December 16th Your final will be a Critical Review of the book/script/movie. Keep in mind next semester you will write your own script. Your book title is due to me BEFORE you leave for break. Book cannot already be a movie or be in the process.
