To support the energy needs of the campus by way of a sustainable operation of the Renewable Energy Center. To facilitate the faculty collaborative research across the entire university on clean energy. To engage students in their study of clean energy as a means to be educated in environmental protection, natural resource preservation, social responsibilities and solutions. Examples of Activities
Set up a laboratory gasifier system for students to test various alternative biomass fuels such as yard waste and tree trims. Study agricultural residues including corn stover as a possible alternative to wood chips. Study the economic, environmental and social impact of renewable energy. Renewable energy demonstration by students in communication studies, music , theater and arts. Work with regional schools in terms of science, mathematics, engineering and technology (STEM) education. Hold renewable energy competition for high school students. Many more.
