Paper Set Up Take out a clean sheet of paper and label it “Tanker Experiment”—then fold it in half (hotdog style) and write “observations” the 1st column and “questions” in the 2nd Tanker Experiment Observations: Questions:

Tanker Experiment List your observations for what happened in the demonstration. Include as many details as possible. Also write any questions you come up with as you watch! ZM

Tanker Experiment Extra Information (write these below your observations!) the tanker was cleaned with hot steam (water vapor), then sealed The tanker didn’t crush immediately It took a while to crush after it was sealed The tanker was mostly empty (some steam was inside)

Tanker Experiment Start brainstorming ideas for why the tanker was crushed Draw a diagram or model (maybe a before and after picture) List all the things that changed Compare what you saw to things you have seen before

Tanker Experiment On the paper provided, each group needs to make a model of what is happening. It needs to include… A labeled drawing (or multiple) that includes the molecules and what they are doing Words that explain the what/why/how You will be sharing your ideas with the class with the document camera!

Tanker Experiment Presentations—one person from each group will present the group’s model to the class After each presentation, jot down ideas you like or want to include in your model. Write these in a different color!
