30 FRESHMAN YEAR AND BEYOND…..

31 Taking Research Biology as a Freshman
If students are on an accelerated path, they may choose to go directly to Research Biology as a freshman.  This path is not for everyone, and is a decision that must be carefully thought out. Students who go directly to Research Biology will be missing out on important research skills that are required and expected in Biology.  In order to demonstrate readiness, freshman who choose to take Research Biology will be required to complete a summer assignment. Successful 9th grade Research Biology students are:   strong in Math (entering Geometry or higher) Organized and on top of school work Ask questions and seek help when needed Passionate about science Prepared to complete required work outside of classroom Strong in skills taught in Research Earth Science

32 Social Sciences Pre-AP World History to 1500 Academic World History
Both Courses Address same content Must pass WH1 SOL to earn verified credit Primary Source Analysis .5 Bump on GPA Prepare students for AP WH Independent learner with previous writing experiences Emphasis on essay writing Aim for timed tests by end of year 60-75 minutes of HW between blocks No Bump Short Answer questions/Shorter essays Developing writing skills Visual and written projects per quarter Untimed tests 30 minutes of HW between blocks
