Winter Planning for 2011/12
2
My experience of winter planning last year (mainly working with clinical staff)
My journey in winter planning only started at the end of last year so I’m still quite new to a lot of this and I can only give my observations from the interactions I had, these were mainly with services that had direct interactions with patients. I am really interested today in starting to appreciate what it was like for other services and partners. Many days seemed to be like this. A lot of frustration, no time to plan, banging your head against a brick wall. Same issues time and time again. No beds, no staff, ‘just get me through the next 8 hours’

Flying in to save the day
We also had a fair amount of this. The rescuer could take many guises and some seemed to enjoy it. It seemed to me to be quite reactive behaviour some or most of the time. This solved the immediate problem but the chances are the same thing happened the following day and the day after??
