2. Setting up a Saltwater Aquarium
Water weighs 10 pounds per gallon
Place tank on a level surface that can support the weight
Do not use soap to clean tank
Tank should not be placed on top of or close to any heat source or in a draft or direct sunlight
Always carry fish tank from the bottom

3. Filter – Cleans water

4. Thermometer – Tells temperature of water

5. Heater - Keeps water warm (most saltwater fish 75-80*F)

6. Light – Allows better viewing and highlights the color of your fish
Light – Allows better viewing and highlights the color of your fish. Keep lit from 4-10 hours per day.

7. Hood – Covers and protects your aquarium

8. Decorations – Makes tank look pretty, provides hiding spots, and beneficial bacteria for your fish. Fish need hiding spots. Do not use items that you collect on your own because they can be harmful to your aquarium. Live rock and plants only, other decorations can pollute the tank

9. Live Rock
Live rock and live sand are full of beneficial organisms that create a healthy environment for your tank.

10. Gravel – Use coral gravel or live sand
Gravel – Use coral gravel or live sand. Use 1 pound of gravel per gallon of water.

11. Water Conditioner – Removes chlorine from tap water

12. Sea Salt – Salt needed for saltwater fish
Sea Salt – Salt needed for saltwater fish. Read instructions on salt so you know how much to add. 1 cup for every 2 gallons

13. Hydrometer – Check specific gravity of water. Should be between 1

14. Bio Wheel – will provide bacteria necessary to help get rid of some of the toxic waste created by the fish.
