1. Welcome to the G.A.T.E. Parent Meeting Welcome! Please sign in, have a seat, then answer the following question on the Post-It Note: What would you like to see from the G.A.T.E. program this year?

2. G.A.T.E. Identification Process At the beginning of the school year, in the fourth and fifth grades, any student who scored a 450 or higher on either one of their CST tests are automatically considered for G.A.T.E. testing. Students who earn a minimum score of 14 points on the identification form prior to testing are invited to test for G.A.T.E. G.A.T.E. facilitator receives test results and completes the Identification Form. If a student earns 25 points or more on the Identification Form they will be officially identified as a G.A.T.E. student.

3. What is a G.A.T.E. Student & What Should I Expect From My Childs Teacher? A G.A.T.E. Student Is…. Someone who catches on to new information quickly. Can daydream and pay attention at the same time. Comes up with better ways for doing things; suggests them to peers, teachers, and other adults. Surprisingly a G.A.T.E. student may not always be the hardest worker or neatest student in the class. What Should I Expect From My Childs Teacher? o Once your child has been identified, a brief meeting where the teacher explains how he or she will meet the needs of your child. o Ongoing modifications and/ or opportunities that appropriately challenge your child as they learn.
