1 Reducing Medicare Advantage Payments to Match Costs in Local Areas
“Payments to Medicare Advantage plans in 2009 are projected to be 13 percent ($11 billion, or $1,100 per enrollee) greater than the corresponding costs in traditional Medicare. Policymakers have proposed reducing these payments to correspond more closely to the costs that Medicare Advantage plans face in their local areas.
