2 Fishbowl Discussion Students on the INSIDE: Students on the OUTSIDE:
Students should participate in order to: state supporting ideas agree with a speaker and add supporting information disagree with a speaker and offer refuting information make a connecting contribution ask a question to encourage discussion No one may interrupt a speaker. No one may speak a second time until everyone has had a chance Students on the OUTSIDE: Students should listen attentively to the conversation taking place Be respectful, and allow the students on the inside to participate in the discussion Record notes on the Fishbowl Discussion Worksheet All students: Complete the fishbowl reflection for homework, and submit your typed responses to turnitin.com by class time on Friday, April 18

4 Jigsaw Read your assigned article, and answer the following questions based on your reading: What policies (there are multiple in each country) concerning population have been implemented? What prompted each implemented policy? What were the effects of the implemented policies? In your small group… Compare Iran and China – regarding their population control policies – using your answers to the questions above. Be prepared to share your answers with the class
