DNA Replication

2 Chromosomes and DNA Replication

3 Structure of DNA

4 DNA Nucleotides Nitrogenous Base

5 Base Pairing Rules for DNA
A pairs with T C pairs with G

6 DNA in Prokaryotes

7 DNA in Eukaryotes Chromosomes found in nucleus of eukaryotes.

8 DNA Replication Making an exact copy of DNA
DNA double helix unzips and forms two complementary strands Results in two identical sister chromatids

9 DNA Polymerase: polymerizes [links] individual nucleotides to create a new strand of DNA

10 DNA Replication A protein binds to the origin.
Enzyme [helicase] begins breaking hydrogen bonds between the bases. The double helix begins to unzip. As the two chains separate, another enzyme [DNA polymerase] binds to each separated chain. The enzyme sweeps along binding new nucleotides to the parent chains from top to bottom on one chain and bottom to top on the other. Proof reading enzyme checks both strands.
